ALADEAN KHEROUFI GOOD

‘Good’ comes from Aladean Kheroufi’s upcoming Beauty Beyond Grief EP. The Canadian multi-instrumentalist has been impressing with his recent output (and work alongside the likes of Mac Demarco and Wares) and continues to deliver with this soulful, jazzy cut. A minimalistic, lo-fi accompaniment kicks things off in style, allowing Kheroufi to deliver powerful lyrics via melodies borrowed from the band Ghost Woman. Thudding drums juxtapose the sweet, clean lead guitar lines, while an insistent bassline keeps things bouncing along for a blissful four-minutes. The track comes from his emotionally-charged, self-produced EP, written and recorded after the end of a long term relationship and during a global pandemic. Impressive. - Dan Peeke
